By: TIM BALTZ – HOGANSBURG, NY – Mohawk International Raceway has had plenty of action each week in the 2018 season and this week will be just as intense with a lot on the line for one division in particular.
The Unique Ecigs Sportsman Series takes to the speedway for their 2nd of 5 races on the year and if the intensity stays the same as race 1 did on June 2nd at Airborne, then you will not want to miss out. Bucko Branham out of Plattsburgh New York took home the win in the opening leg of the series on a track where he has a wealth of knowledge on both dirt and asphalt. Branham did not have an easy time as Shane Pecore of St. Andrews Ontario Canada was nipping at his heels but Branham held strong to score his first series win. Justin Severance out of Rutland Vermont scored 3rd while multi-time champion Nick Heywood finished 4th and Mohawk regular Robert Delormier crossed in 5th. With a stout top 5 in race 1, along with the Mohawk regulars in attendance, it should make for an exciting night of racing in the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman division.
With the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman as the headline division the Twin Leaf Convenience 358 Modifieds will also be on the card and everyone will be looking to knock Chris Raabe and Tim Fuller out of the win column. Green’s Performance Mod Lite will be there and Harley Brown will look for back to back wins after ending a near 2 year winless drought, along with Novice Sportsman and Bandits.
Racing action begins at 7:30pm. For more news, results, points and everything going on at the speedway check out our website at mohawkintlraceway.com or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
