Final Month of the Regular Season Ready to Begin with a Full Show This Coming Friday Night

By: TIM BALTZ – HOGANSBURG, NY – With the month of August approaching many drivers and teams in all divisions at the Mohawk International Raceway are starting to worry about points and how many everyone has.

In the Twin Leaf 358 Modifieds Madison Mulder took advantage of Tim Fuller’s absence a week ago and collected his 2nd win of the year in dominant fashion. With a 5th place effort Raabe was able to come away with a great points night and is in position to make a run at his 2nd career Mohawk International Raceway track championship.

In the Crossroads Tobacco Sportsman ranks Shane Pecore would build on his momentum this season as he scored his third victory of the season and first in the MIR Sportsman Series at Mohawk. Pecore has never won a track championship but has two of the coveted MIR Sportsman Series titles and would love to get his third series crown, along with his first career overall point title.

The Mod Lite class saw Kevin Foster claim his 2nd win of the season but despite the win, it’s his runner up finishes that have been getting all the attention. After the opening day win on May 24th Foster would make a run of 5 straight events as the runner up, but would hold off a very determined Ian Bressett to claim win number two a week ago.

Deric Ellsworth’s heartbreak gave Dan Bechard his first career Novice Sportsman win. Bechard said in victory lane that he wanted to win one but not this way and hopes possibly this Friday night he can cross the line first and not win on a technicality.

The Bandit class can be appropriately named the Matt Zira charity classic for good reason as Zira has been the dominant force. With now five straight wins, many are wondering if he will ever stop winning but with drivers such as Francis White, Jeff Putnam and a host of others, don’t be shocked if a new winner emerges this weekend.

The first green flag set to drop at 7:30pm. Reminder to all Canadian race fans that Canadian Money will be accepted at par at the main gate all season long. Also do not forget to grab a receipt at the toll booth in exchange for a free bridge pass that night.
