Jordan McCreadie Wins On Famous A’s Dispensary Heads Up Challenge Night At Mohawk

HOGANSBURG, NY – After back to back weeks of rain outs, the Mohawk International Raceway was set to go on Famous A’s Dispensary Heads Up Challenge night on Thursday June 22,2023. On the card this evening it would be the 358 modifieds for 35 laps, Sportsman for 30 laps, Pro Stocks for 30 laps, and the Limited Sportsman for 20 laps. The track was prepared close to perfection on this night and the fans were in for special evening. After the heats it would be time for the Features.

First up it would be the Pro Stocks for 30 laps. Starting on the pole it would be Blayne Nichols along side Syd Harmer Jr. . Harmer Jr would get off to a fast start from the top side and bring Joel Herne with him. On lap 3 Herne would find the wall between turns 3 and 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Harmer Jr would quickly regain the lead with Marc Lalonde in pursuit from the second spot. On lap 5 Ian Bressette would bring the yellow out as his car would go off the track in Turn 1. On the restart Harmer Jr would move to the top side, however Lalonde would maintain a strong pace on the bottom. By lap 7 Harmer Jr would propel himself on the highside off of turn 4 to place some distance between him and Lalonde. By lap 20 Harmer Jr would open up a half track lead with Lalonde and Zack Daniels running second and third. On lap 25 the yellow would be displayed as a couple of cars were off the pace. On the restart, Harmer elected to fire from the highside. Lalonde held his own on the bottom until Kevin Fetterly Jr moved to the topside to take the number 2 position way. However Harmer Jr would not be beat on this night and would go on to pick up the win.

Next up it would be the 358 modifieds for 35 laps. Firing from the pole it would be Jordan McCreadie with Carey Terrance starting to his outside. Terrance would gain the early lead however the yellow would come out for a car stopped on the back stretch. On the restart Terrance would again jump out to the lead with McCreadie on his heels. On lap 4 McCreadie would slip past Terrance for the lead an open up a 5 car length lead. By lap 14 McCreadie would increase his advantage by placing 3 lap cars between him and Terrance. McCreadie would appear as if he was going to win with ease until the yellow came out for Felix Roy, who clipped a yuke tire out of turn 2. This would set up a green white checkers shootout between McCreadie, Terrance, and Chris Raabe. McCreadie would not be contested and would see the Swamp’s Automotive Checkered flag to pick up the $2,000 prize.

The Sportsman would be ready for their 30 lap event as the fans would see Thomas Cook fire from the pole. Cook would look to break away but Cedric Gauvreau would have other ideas as he would challenge Cook from his 3 starting spot. The 2 cars would battle side by side for several laps with neither being able to best one another. On lap 5 Dan Reif would bring out the yellow as he came to a stop off of turn 4. On the double file restart, Cook and Gauvreau would break away and venture to the top side of the sideway to set a torrid pace. By lap 17 Gauvreau would duck underneath Cook coming off of turn 2 to take the lead away from Cook. The yellow on Lap 23 would come out as the lap car of Jason Bruno made contact with Thomas Cook and send Cook far off of the track. Cook would take his car pitside. On the lap 23 restart, Gauvreau and Pecore would fire from the front row. By lap 27 Gauvreau would take the lead and pick up the win on Famous A’s night.

The final feature of the evening would be the Limited Sportsman for 20 laps. Dustin Woods would lead from the pole with Cameron Reif to his outside. On the start, Blaze Benedict would end up on his side in Turn 3. Blaze would be ok. On the restart Woods would take the lead but coming off of 2, Reif slipped past him for the lead. Reif would place his car on the top side and pull away from the field. But a late race restart would see Bob Laware climb from the number 2 position and would go unchallenged to pick up the win on Famous A’s night.
