HOGANSBURG, NY – With a less than favorable weather forecast MIR was able to hand Mother Nature a loss this past Friday July 7th.
On the card it was the Run What Ya Brung for the Modifieds, CrossRoads Sportsman, the Famous A’s Pro Stocks, King Canna Limited Sportsman, Turtle Nest Mini Stocks. After the heats it was time for the features.
The Turtle Nest Mini Stocks were set to go for 15 laps. On the pole it would be Tyler Woods. By the cars entered turn 2 CJ Smith was much quicker until the yellow came out as Macy Tarbell would come to a stop. On the double file restart, Smith and Woods would show the way as the cars took the green. Smith would again take the lead. Antoine Dumachell would start to challenge Smith for the lead by lap 4 and take the lead coming off of turn 2. On lap 7 the yellow would come out again as two cars had come to a stop in the infield. On the restart Dumachell would not look back as he walked away from the field to pick up his first win in the Turtle Nest Mini Stocks.
Next up it would be the King Canna Limited Sportsman, Starting from the front row, it would be Nick Mallette and Dale Gonyo for 15 laps. Gonyo would set a torrid pace as Ty David would follow him in 2nd. On lap 10 Kyle Reif would bring out the yellow as his car came to a stop off of turn 1. On the restart, Gonyo once again pulled away and would not be challenged on this night to claim the victory over David.
The next feature was the Run What Ya Brung for 35 laps. Stephane Lafrance and Carey Terrance would fire from the front row. By lap 4 Lafrance would set an unofficial track record with a 15.6 lap on lap 5. On lap 18 the yellow would come out for a car that came to a stop off of turn 2. After a yellow on lap 27, the restart would see Carey Terrance gain the lead over Lafrance. However the lead wouldn’t last long as Louie Jackson Jr would stop on the front stretch to bring out the yelllow. On the double file restart, Lafrance would jump out to the lead again and begin to pull away. Lafrance would pull away and not feel any pressue to pick up the win.
The CrossRoads Tobacco Sportsman would enter the track for their 25 lap event. The front row would see Dale Gonyo Jr and Blayden Arquette. The two drivers would battle side by side for the first 4 laps with neither able to gain a lead. By lap 6 Bentley Gray would work past the leaders to show the way with Cedric Gauvreau in pursuit. On lap 21 Gauvreau would slip underneath Gray to take the lead and take the Swamp’s Automotive Checkered Flags.
The final feature of the evening would be the Famous A’s Pro Stocks for 20 laps. Starting on the pole it would be Owen White and Roch Aubin. Aubin would lead lap 1 with Ian Bressette in second. On lap 3 Zach Daniels would make his towards the front and come around to lead lap 4. By lap 5 Cameron White would bring out the yellow as he came to a stop in turn 2. Daniels would get off to a great restart to lead with Bressette and Kevin Fetterly Jr.. Daniels would pull away from the field and lead the final 15 laps to pick up another win.
