HOGANSBURG, NY – After nearly a three week without a show at the Mohawk International Raceway, the drivers and fans alike were eager to return to the speedway. A well prepared racing surface was on display as it was set to host a full racing program.
The Mod Lites would take to the track for the first of 2 feature events. First timer, Kyle Demo made quite the impression as he would take the lead away from Nick Mallette on Lap 6. Demo checked out on the field and make his first ever appearance in Victory Lane at Mohawk.
Demo would also pick up the win the 2nd Mod Lite feature, making it a clean sweep on the night.
The Bandit division would see Josh Verne Jr dominate his feature as he would go on to lead all 10 laps to pick up the win.
Next up the Novice Sportsman would be set to do battle for 15 laps. Brad Reif would lead from the pole and set the pace for the first three laps. However Steve Bushey Jr has shown to be a quick study this season. As Bushey Jr would take the lead on Lap 6 and go on to pick up his 2nd win of the year.
The CrossRoads Tobacco Sportsman would be next up for a 25 lap affair. With over a 100 point lead, Nick Heywood has proven to be the class of the field in 2021. Delbert LeGrow Jr would get off to flying start only to have Rickey Thompson nipping at his heels for the next 9 laps. After a series of cautions during the first 16 laps, Nick Heywood would start to make his way to the front. By Lap 19, Heywood would become the new leader after starting 11th and would go on to pick up another win. Zach Arquette would finish in 5th, making it 7 weeks in a row with a Top Ten finish.
Next up at MIR on 8/30/21, is the Dirt 358 series event along with Dirt Sportsman series race and the Pro Stocks.
